Case reads a published record. It is not the official record. The record a court publishes online can be incomplete, can be updated days after a hearing, and can carry mistakes made at source. The next date shown to you may already have changed, an order may have been passed that is not yet online, and a document may exist on the court's file that was never published at all. Treat what you see as a guide to the file, never as the file.

If you ask the tool to list what is still open in a case, read that list carefully for what it does not say. It reports directions the court gave that no later published order shows as concluded. That is a statement about the record, not about any person: it does not mean that anyone failed to comply, missed a deadline, or defaulted. The step may well have been taken and simply not recorded in anything published. Nothing in that list should be quoted or relied on as evidence of non-compliance by any party.

An item number is a position on a board, not an appointment. How long a court takes to reach item 40 depends on the matters ahead of it, and nothing here predicts that. Cause lists are also revised: supplementary lists are issued, matters are added and deleted, courtrooms are reassigned, and a list read the night before is not always the list that is called. Treat Board as a way to find what has been published, and the list displayed at the court as the one that counts.

Where Board warns that two matters are listed to be called at around the same point in different courtrooms, that warning is a comparison of published item numbers and nothing more. It is a prompt to check and arrange cover, not a finding that you cannot attend. Equally, the absence of a warning is not an assurance that your day is clear: a matter can be added to a supplementary list, and a matter listed elsewhere than the Delhi district courts will not appear at all.

Advocate names are shown exactly as the court printed them. They are frequently misspelt, abbreviated, or shared between different advocates practising under similar names, so a search can return matters belonging to someone else and can miss your own. Read the case numbers, not just the name, before relying on anything.
